Our Journey and Impact

Guurnet was created in 2013 with the express goal of solving the misconnection issue faced by the global Somali community seeking serious relationships and marriage.

From 2013 to 2016, Guurnet experienced rapid growth, serving over 20,000 Somali singles. Our users were primarily located in Somalia and other key African countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Africa.

We believe in accessibility. In the early days, we recognized that many people had limited tech exposure, so we went the extra mile: Guurnet helped many of our first users create their very first email account, empowering them to use the platform and embrace digital connection.

An Inclusive Community

Does Guurnet only allow Somali people? No.

For decades, Somalis have lived and married across the world, creating diverse families. As many Somalis live overseas, the search for a partner has no boundaries.

Guurnet proudly serves not only Somali singles but also many non-Somali individuals from various ethnic backgrounds who are actively looking for a Somali partner or soulmate.
